Scanner & Monitoring

The scanner is the core of automatic monitoring in Expirly. It checks SSL certificates and domain registrations automatically.

Domain Scanner

Under Dashboard → Scanner, you can enter a domain and scan it immediately. The scanner provides:

• SSL Certificate – Issuer, expiration date, remaining days, validity status
• Domain Registration – Registrar, expiration date, remaining days (via WHOIS)
• DNS Records – A/AAAA records and validation
• Subdomain Suggestions – Automatically discovered subdomains via crt.sh (Certificate Transparency Logs)

One-Click Import

After a scan, you can click “Create as SSL item” or “Create as domain item” to save the results directly as monitored items. Subdomains can also be imported in one step.

Automatic Monitoring

Items with the categories SSL or DOMAIN are automatically checked hourly by the cron job:

1. SSL connection on port 443 → Read certificate expiration date
2. WHOIS query → Domain registration expiration date
3. Status update: OK → WARNING → CRITICAL → EXPIRED

Manual Recheck

Under Dashboard → Monitoring, you can trigger an immediate recheck of all automatically monitored items at any time, without waiting for the next cron run.
